Social StudiesThis month, scholars will research one of the 7 characteristics that build a civilization on an assigned ancient civilization. They will be sharing their findings as "archaeologists" to their group and creating a group presentation to share with the class. Scholars are focused on note-taking and citation skills, as well as group working skills. Ancient civilizations include: Ancient Egypt, Indus Valley, Ancient China, and the Aztecs, Incas, and Mayas. Ms. Casorso, JMA's Media Specialist, will be in our classrooms demonstrating the proper format for note-taking and citing of sources, as well shown scholars the reliable resources offered online for taking good notes. Projects will be due in mid-November. We will work on BlendSpace, a blended learning platform online to study the Aztecs, Incas, and Mayas. Scholars will review information on these 6 civilizations and take their first interim test mid-month. After the test, we will shift our focus to classical civilizations as we study ancient Greece.
